WHAT: Handmade alphabet ABC crewel wall hanging tapestry

WHY: This handmade crewel tapestry caused quite a fuss at the JDA’s this year. Every year we ask our judges to tell us which item they would most like to take home with them and out of 25 judges, 20 said this tapestry please! This beautiful heirloom piece, meticulously hand embroidered from wool in tiny, limited batches in the Valley of Kashmir felt incredibly special and the fact that it is so easy to hang, transforming any room, made it a certain gold winner.

We have one and it's my favourite thing in my daughters nursery. Just so special and beautiful. I know we'll keep it forever.
Charlotte Kewley, Children’s Stylist and content creator, @thelittlestylist
You would be more than happy to have this piece anywhere in your home, not just the kid's rooms! A really innovative piece that will spark so much joy and conversation.
Dominy Irving, Interiors expert and influencer, @dominyirving
Great design with beautiful colours and the letters are easy to read giving it a nice educational element. The thick material will add texture and decoration to painted nursery walls.
Laura Normanton, Interiors Editor, @lauramnormanton
I feel like I really relate to Moppet - another brand created during lockdown. Laura has a fantastic eye for attention to detail, collecting second-hand pieces and giving them a new life as well as creating beautiful heirloom pieces like this tapestry from scratch. Something for everyone.

WHO: MOOUI

WHAT: Luxury Wallpaper and Wall Murals

WHY: These stop-and-stare wallpapers were a huge hit at the JDA’s this year, not least because they brightened up our interiors corner a treat. Our judges loved “The Dreamers”, a collection that explores children’s imaginations with motifs from Dragons to gigantic flowers. The panel agreed that these wallpapers felt beautifully made with a high quality finish that would add a professional feel to any room in need of a burst of colour.

A truly original brand that brings instant fun, warmth and humour into a child’s room. Fabulous.

WHO: Munks and Me

WHAT: Murals and wallpaper for nursery and children’s rooms

WHY: The magical feel of all these wallpapers really struck our judges who loved the idea of turning a room into a haven of calm and creativity through beautiful illustration and design. The beautifully drawn, large-scale scenes depicting wildlife in faded, restful hues scored well with our judges who felt that these wallpapers would create a soothing backdrop to many childhood games and memories.

These wallpapers and murals really elevate a child’s room without the need for an expensive interior designer!
Bonita Turner, Editor of Junior
Beautiful images, perfect for a Pinterest worthy nursery!
Charlotte Kewley, Children’s Stylist and content creator, @thelittlestylist
Munks and Me were one of the first brands I came across for murals and they now offer so many design options. An innovative brand that moves with trends and covers something for everyone. Really pretty designs to suit lots of different children's rooms - I have a 5-year-old who would adore the 'My Pet Dog' design - it's stunning!
Dominy Irving, Interiors expert and influencer, @dominyirving
I like the calming tones and creativity in the designs...little imaginations can run wild looking at all the different designs and animals.
Laura Normanton, Interiors Editor, @lauramnormanton
Absolutely love the concept of Munks and Me. Life can be noisy for parent and child, so let's step into another calmer world with the power of illustration.

WHO: Little Belle

WHAT: Little Belle Toadstool Nightlight

WHY: This toadstool-shaped portable children’s night light really charmed our judges who could see it lending a magical touch to a child’s bedroom. Perfectly designed to be carried from room to room with its easy-to-grip handle, the real excitement begins when the gentle rainbow LED light show starts. The panel agreed that this lamp would make a lovely gift for a broad age-range of children, adding a warm comforting glow to bedside tables.

Such a sweet little lamp. I can see this coming into its own for midnight toilet trips and sleepovers.
Bonita Turner, Editor of Junior
Such a brilliant yet simple idea and I love the toadstool design. Need for my youngest's room!
Charlotte Kewley, Children’s Stylish and content creator, @thelittlestylist
A beautiful design that would look perfect in any child's room and the handle enabling them to carry the light independently is adorable. LOVE the colour changing feature! So clever and I know my daughters would be obsessed with it!

Clever design detail with the fairy house - a lovely way to stimulate their imagination while also providing easy sleep with the low light.

WHO: The Nursery Blind Company

WHAT: Design-led blinds for contemporary nurseries

WHY: This collection of soft furnishings and nursery blinds impressed the panel with their high-quality finish and well-chosen colour palette. The brand specialises in beautiful made-to-measure roman blinds with black-out linings to keep little ones sleeping peacefully and has recently branched out into co-ordinating lampshades and cushions to create a stylish, cohesive nursery design. Every item was made with incredible attention to detail and the JDA judges loved sweet little touches like applique bunnies with pom pom tails and contrast linings in the lampshades.

I'm a bit obsessed with both window treatments and blackout blinds, so these are of great interest to me. I love the frill detail!
Charlotte Kewley, Children’s Stylish and content creator, @thelittlestylist
You can tell these blinds are really well-made and built to last. The matching cushions are a really lovely creative touch.
Dominy Irving, interiors expert and influencer, @dominyirving
A black out blind is essential in a baby's room and I love this concept of having the option to customise online.
Laura Normanton, Interiors Editor, @lauramnormanton
An absolutely stunning brand which offers so much variety yet maintains that element of chic. A business which cares not only about the importance of style and helping little ones sleep, but also supports others with a donation made from every blind sold to a charity that supports small female-owned businesses in Africa. Such an important message.
